As we progress towards making low emission steel, we’re proud to have received an award in June for CO2 reduction from Legrand Group.
‘The award recognises the steps we’ve taken to meet Legrand on their committed trajectory towards decarbonisation,’ says Sales Manager Richard Down, who collected the award on behalf of the company at Legrand’s 2026 global supplier conference.
Tata Steel is a long-standing supply partner, delivering hot rolled, cold reduced and galvanised slit coil and decoiled sheet for Legrand UK to process into cable management, electrical and digital building infrastructure at their two main UK plants.
During our transitional re-roller model whilst the EAF is under construction in Port Talbot, we are supporting customers such as Legrand to meet their decarbonisation objectives today. Our Optemis® Evolve product offers lower embodied CO2 today. It’s the same products our customers know delivered by sourcing high quality EAF steel substrate from trusted suppliers. As a result we have been able to supply Legrand with a product with five times greater recycled content compared to blast furnace-produced steel, offering our customer a 50% reduction in CO2 per tonne of steel.
‘We’re very proud of this milestone and our valued longstanding partnership with Legrand. It’s exciting to look ahead and see how the introduction of our new EAF will support our customers with their low emission ambitions and their decarbonisation roadmaps in the future,’ Richard adds.
