Technical
Our Technical function ensures that our products meet and exceed our customers’ exacting needs, both now and in the future. The roles are varied but the challenge is always the same: to develop and improve every grade of steel, so that it’s ready to meet the challenges of every possible application, from electrical use to aerospace and beyond. Technical excellence is at the heart of everything we do, underpinning areas including quality assurance, laboratory management, non-destructive testing, metallurgical investigations and supply chain. Whilst there’s plenty of scope for independent working, you could just as easily find yourself in a customer-facing role, working alongside Commercial and Supply chain colleagues, liaising with Research & Development, or collaborating with our Operational teams. Whichever remit you favour, you will need highly developed analytical skills, an aptitude for problem-solving, the ability to influence those around you, and first-rate project management and organisational skills. These skills will be supported by an interest in science, a desire to learn and innovate, and the drive to achieve results in often challenging situations.
Manufacturing
The Manufacturing function plays a vital role in keeping our sites running smoothly. You will work closely with colleagues in and beyond Manufacturing, ensuring that plant performance is optimised and that production targets are achieved. It involves operating at pace, with precision and to accurate technical guidelines. Skill, expertise and dedication are critical.
Your motivation will always be to ensure our customers’ requirements are achieved on time, every time. You will be involved with all elements associated with Manufacturing, including health & safety, quality, customer focus and production efficiency. To help you realise your potential and reach career milestones, our programme ensures that you are fully trained, focused and aware of current business issues, as well as honing the skills you need to effectively communicate with people across the business.
Research and Development
Our Research & Development (R&D) team combines inventiveness with cutting-edge technology to deliver steel products fit for the twenty-first century. Our clients’ needs are constantly evolving so we work in close alliance with them, getting to grips with their businesses and their marketplaces, in order to understand their complex requirements. Our innovative steel products enable them to push the boundaries of what is currently possible, offering the support and technical expertise they need to design new products and create pioneering new applications.

Human Resources (HR)

We’re looking for placements who can develop contribute to the implementation of a wide range of projects that impact on employee communication, stakeholder engagement and organisational development.

Our commercial professionals work across our entire business, working closely with colleagues to align products closely to customer needs.
