Trostre Takes Centre Stage at a Record‑Breaking Llanelli Half Marathon

Llanelli Hal f

Llanelli was buzzing with excitement on Sunday as the Tata Steel Llanelli Half Marathon and 10K roared back into town – and this year it was bigger, bolder, and better than ever.

For the first time in its history, the half marathon got under way at Tata Steel’s iconic Trostre site, where 1,200 eager runners – including 30 proud Tata Steel employees – set off with a mix of nerves, excitement and pure determination.

Another 1,000 runners crossed the start line at Festival Fields for the 10K, turning the Millennium Coastal Path into a sea of colour, sweat, and unwavering community spirit.

The scenic route, hugging the coastline with sweeping views across Carmarthen Bay, proved the perfect stage for first timers chasing a dream and seasoned runners hunting down personal bests.

Trostre Works Manager James Davies couldn’t hide his pride as he watched the crowds surge forward from Trostre Works amid an electric atmosphere.

“At Trostre, making a positive impact in the community is key to our business,” he said.
“The Llanelli 10K and Half Marathon embodies so many of the values Tata Steel UK cares about – community, wellbeing, health, and personal growth.

“This event isn’t just about running – it’s a celebration of the local area and the collaboration that makes it such a success.”

With thousands of spectators lining the route, cheering, clapping, and ringing cowbells, the 2026 event cemented itself as one of the standout fixtures in the Welsh running calendar.

Tata Steel’s sponsorship once again proved a perfect fit – a major local employer backing an event that brings the whole community together.

James added: "Huge thanks to everyone who put in so much effort to help organise this fantastic event."
