Steelworkers spread winter warmth across the UK

Steelworkers up and down the country have banded together to support homeless and vulnerable people in their areas, during the coldest months of the year.

What began as a simple act of kindness at Tata Steel UK’s Steelpark site in Wolverhampton, has grown into a nationwide campaign led by kind-hearted steelworkers.

The Winter Wrap Up initiative is now running across eight Tata Steel UK locations, with colleagues donating essential winter items including coats, hats, gloves, blankets and hot water bottles. Hundreds of items have already been collected and distributed through local charities, bringing warmth, comfort and dignity to those who need it most.

Demand Planning Manager Anna Fereday led the nationwide campaign, which grew from one small idea into a powerful example of compassion in action.

Anna said: “We knew people cared, but we didn’t expect such an overwhelming response. It all began with one colleague wanting to help someone keep warm, and it’s been incredible to see that idea spread.”

Each site has partnered with a local charity to ensure donations reach those most in need:

Anna added: “Something as simple as a warm pair of gloves or a blanket can make a real difference,”

“Every donation is a reminder that compassion matters.”
