Tata Steel has once again been named a Sustainability Champion by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), marking an impressive ninth consecutive year of recognition.

The achievement highlights Tata Steel’s long-standing commitment to responsible steelmaking and its leadership in sustainable industrial practices.

Since the programme’s launch in 2018, Tata Steel has consistently met worldsteel’s rigorous criteria, which assess performance across environmental, social, governance (ESG), and economic dimensions - to be awarded the worldsteel Sustainability Champion for ninth consecutive year. To qualify, companies must also provide comprehensive life-cycle inventory data for a significant proportion of their steel production and demonstrate excellence through recognised safety and operational awards.

This continued recognition reinforces Tata Steel’s position as a trusted supplier in a market where customers are increasingly prioritising low-carbon steel, transparency, and ethical production. Sustainability is not just a goal for Tata Steel — it is embedded into everyday operations, supporting both competitiveness and long-term resilience.

The award also reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to improve environmental performance, enhance workplace safety, and maintain high standards of governance across its global operations. Achieving Sustainability Champion status year after year demonstrates consistency at scale and a deep-rooted commitment to doing business responsibly.

The certificate was presented during worldsteel’s April meeting to Henrik Adam, Executive Chairman of Tata Steel Netherlands and President of EUROFER.
