Tata Steel is delighted to announce that its Colorcoat Prisma® - Textured range of pre-finished steel has comfortably met the requirements for Ruv5, demonstrating its excellent UV resistance and colour and gloss retention, even in the most challenging of environments.
Originally launched in 2021, Colorcoat Prisma® - Textured is designed to offer a unique look and feel, combining contemporary aesthetics with the durability and long-term performance expected from the Colorcoat Prisma® brand. Providing the most matt product in the Colorcoat® portfolio, the textured effect adds an exciting illusion of depth and a multi-tonal feel to the pre-finished steel.
Now, updated test results have confirmed that Colorcoat Prisma® - Textured is certified Ruv5, in accordance with the EN 10169 standard. Updated in 2022, the standard dictates the performance requirements for pre-finished steel, with the Ruv5 category the highest classification available for UV resistance. To achieve this, products must achieve a minimum of four years weathering in a UV exposure site, with satisfactory colour and gloss retention results.
Whilst the main composition is the same as the standard Colorcoat Prisma® product, the Textured version utilises a thicker, optimised clearcoat (five microns thicker than the standard clearcoat) making the product overall a nominal 70 microns. This makes it ideal for use in roof cladding systems, with the results demonstrating the product’s performance as well as durability.
The range of pre-finished steel had already achieved RC5+ classification to EN 10169, which represents the highest level of corrosion resistance and requires extensive testing in a C5 exposure site for four years. Products must be able to resist blistering and edge delamination to less than 2mm following extended weathering.

In fact, with a gloss retention of 80% or higher after four years at test sites in Florida and Arizona, it demonstrates our commitment to not only meeting the standards but exceeding them.”
Colorcoat Prisma® is one of the pre-finished steel products offered by Tata Steel, which combines outstanding aesthetics with long-lasting, durable performance. As a result of Tata Steel’s innovative three-layer manufacturing technology and Galvalloy® metallic coating, Colorcoat Prisma® pushes the boundaries for UV performance and outperforms the highest European corrosion resistance standards. Fully REACH compliant and supportive of BREEAM and LEED certification, Colorcoat Prisma® has also achieved an A+ VOC classification, according to EN ISO 16000-9.
Colorcoat Prisma® comes with the Confidex® Guarantee for up to 40 years of protection for the weatherside of the product when used for industrial and commercial buildings.
