Communities win at Tata – Kids of Steel®

Tata Steel has extended its sponsorship of the British Triathlon Federation for another three years as Community Sponsor.

The new-three-year agreement will focus on Tata – Kids of Steel®, the children’s triathlon series, which aims to inspire young people of all abilities to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle.

Launched in 2007, the children’s triathlon series gives youngsters aged 8 to 13 the opportunity to ‘give triathlon a ‘tri’ in a safe environment.

Since its launch the series has given around 67,000 children from hundreds of schools throughout Great Britain the chance to try this dynamic and fast-growing sport. The children take part in a mini-triathlon over manageable distances – a swim of 40m to 60m is followed by a traffic-free cycle of 800m to 1,200m, and a run of approximately 400m. All bikes and helmets are provided. So children only need to bring their swimming and running kit. Every child is a winner and receives a medal plus a T-shirt, swim cap and gym sack.
