Packaging steel product range
Tinplate products
Tinplate is one the most preferred metal packaging media and it is used both for food products like fresh and processed edibles, beverages and in non-food applications such as paints, aerosols, battery jackets and chemicals closures. It is a green packaging medium that is 100% bio—degradable and eco—friendly. Tinplate packaging can be recycled infinitely many times without losing quality
All products conform to the following specifications
- IS 1883 / ISO 11949:2016
- IS 9396 (Part 1): 1987
- JIS G3303 SPTE
- EN Standard 10202
- All processes conform to ISO9 001, OHSAS 18001, EMS 14001, FSMS 22000, HALAL.
Electrolytic tinplate (ETP)
ETP comes in single reduced (SR) and double reduced (DR) format and is available in coil or sheet form.
- Thickness range: 0.18 mm to 0.40 mm (SR) 0.14 mm to 0.24 mm (DR)
- Width range: 700 mm to 1020 mm
- Sheet cut length: 510 mm to 1135 mm (can be extended to 1200 mm)
- Coil inside diameter: W508, S508
ETP Double reduced (DR) is normally thinner, stronger and brighter than single reduced (SR) tinplate and produces more cans per tonne of tinplate.
SR and DR are available in the following grades:
| Nominal coating mass (g/m2) | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Type | Coating code | Per surface | Total both surfaces |
| Equally | E 1.12/1.12 | 1.12 | 2.24 |

Tin-free steel (TFS)
TFS is an electrolytic chromium and chromium oxide-coated steel, consisting of a thin layer of metallic chromium and a layer of chromium oxide deposited on the steel base which gives is a beautiful, lustrous metallic finish on both side.
| Coating weight | Average coating mass on each surface |
|---|---|
| Chromium in Cr. Oxides | 5 to 35 mg/m2 |
| Metallic Chromium | 50 to 185 mg/m2 |
Coatings as per IS 12951/ ISO 11950

Protact
Protact polymer-coated steel is food-safe and optimised for efficient, sustainable canmaking with opportunities for differentiated brand performance.
Protact laminated steel meets market needs for more sustainable, reliable and safe packaging material. Infinitely recyclable, Protact is food-safe and optimised for efficient canmaking. It is a proven material solution across a number of high-performance canmaking applications and formats including DRD cans and D&I aerosols.
Protact removes the need for up to five cost-intensive operations associated with the use of lacquers – eliminating VOC emissions and cutting water and energy consumption. Its extra width allows a 10-15% increase in canmaking output. High wall ironing ratios deliver consistently reliable forming.

TCCT
TCCT (Trivalent Chromium-Coating Technology) is a sustainable, reliable replacement for conventional tin-free packaging steel (ECCS). Developed by Tata Steel, TCCT complies with European REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of CHemicals) regulations.
Food-safe and suitable for a wide range of packaging applications, TCCT enables fast, repeatable processing. It is available in widths up to 1200mm for output optimisation.
Protact
Discover Protact®. Our next-generation, lacquer-free, tin-free and chromium VI-free packaging steel.
Protact® is polymer coated technology and differs from a traditionally lacquered can in two key ways: it uses no lacquers, and has a chromium VI-free substrate which is compliant with forthcoming REACH legislation.
The use of chromium VI associated with tin-free steel production will not meet the new REACH standards which will be introduced in Europe in the next years. The replacement Trivalent Chromium Coating Technology (TCCT®) used in Protact overcomes this issue.
